The Bartlett Summer Foundation

En el post de hoy quiero presentaros algo diferente. 

Si os gusta la arquitectura, el diseño, si estas pensando en estudiar arquitectura o quieres completar tus estudios o conoces a alguien que quiera hacerlo, The Bartlett Summer Foundation, con la colaboración de mi amigo Carlos Jimenez, artista y creador sin igual (ya os hablé de él en este post), están organizando unos cursos de verano muy interesantes. Una muy buena experiencia que recomiendo sin duda alguna.

The Bartlett Summer Foundation will introduce and prepare students for a future career in architecture and architectural education through the Bartlett eyes, the eyes of INNOVATION. The program will provide students with a unique creative platform to improve their design Skills and to acquire new ones through Experimentation and Fabrication, in one of the most creative environment of the world. This Summer Foundation experience will allow each student to build a conceptual and critical thinking as well as a consistent design ETHOS within a PLAYFUL and ENJOYABLE atmosphere.

We welcome a wide range of participants, of varying ages and differing backgrounds, including prospective Bartlett students, international students, secondary school students and those who have a career change in mind and want to use it as a test bed to see if they are suited to a university degree in architecture.

Students will study and develop ideas of Innovative Architecture and design, as means and tools to improve the world. To inform these speculations students will be asked to investigate London’s transformation within the present economic climate, a framework that promotes and requires a creative approach in order to change the rules that contribute to society. 

In a world in which homogenisation, standardisation and consumerism is considered the paradigm of economic development and at the same time can be the cause of a dramatic loss of the welfare state, cultural, social and environmental uniqueness, we aim to reclaim the role of design to develop scenarios to promote and celebrate a diverse and sustainable future environment.

We will design components of a desirable new world, with a playful and enjoyable attitude, the attitude of the new upcoming revolutionary thinking.

Supplemental to architectural design classes will be workshops on photography, model making, fashion design, carpentry and filmmaking as a taster of the wide design scope that architectural education demands.

The Bartlett School of Architecture offers two separate routes within the Summer Foundation.

Route 1: the Summer Foundation - Running from Monday July 29th till Friday 30th August, a five week course focused on developing key design skills and critical thinking.

Route 2: the Advanced Summer Foundation - Running from Monday July 29th till Friday the 20th September, an eight week course for developing not only skills but also additional and more advanced modes of conceptual thinking, used in design and art education. This course follows directly on from the 5 week Summer Foundation course listed above.
